Drive-In Theatre 50s
Editorial- 'Awarded ISTD Membership'
For this project the evolution and decline of the Drive-In Theatre in America is explored through typographic interpretation and images of this time. Elements of researched articles/books are gathered to create a narrative consisting of 6 topics that shape the Drive-In Theatre: The Beginning, Economic Boom, Car Culture, Baby Boom, Passion Pit and the Decline. A Vernacular style from the mid-twentieth century was the main influence for the typography. It echos a period where new letters for signs weren’t affordable, therefore people used what they had resulting in a mix of fonts.
